A three-day short course on wind energy has commenced at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET). Organized by the Institute of Energy and Environmental Studies (IEES), the course titled "Harnessing the Wind: Analytical, Numerical and Experimental Approaches to Wind Energy" was inaugurated on Thursday (24 July) in the university’s seminar hall.
A total of 108 participants, including faculty members, students, and professionals working in the field of wind energy, have enrolled in the course. The first two days are dedicated to academic training, while the final day will include hands-on industrial attachment for practical experience.
The course features seven renowned researchers from Bangladesh, China, Australia, and Sweden. Among them are Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Director of IEES at RUET; Professor Md. Mahbub Alam from Harbin Institute of Technology, Xinjiang, China; Dr. Harun Chowdhury from RMIT University, Australia; Dr. Mahadi Hasan Masud, Associate Professor at IEES, RUET; Anan Ashrabi Ananno from Linköping University and Siemens Energy, Sweden; and Mim Mashrur Ahmed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at RUET.
The inaugural session was graced by Professor Dr. Md. Emdadul Hoque, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and Professor Dr. Md. Zahurul Islam Sarkar, Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT). The session was presided over by Dr. Mahadi Hasan Masud, Associate Professor at IEES.
Notably, the course includes a quiz competition and group discussions, offering participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and insights. Certificates will be awarded to all participants upon successful completion of the course.
